Resting Place

Artist Residency

2025

Resting Place, by Jessica Dunn and Michael Moskaliuk, is an experimental documentary project created and set within Crown Hill Cemetery. Through stop-motion animation, time lapse, and film photography paired with an original musical score, the documentary explores themes of time, life/death, and our relationship to nature. Upon the end of the project, the final film will screen inside the historic Gothic Chapel inside of Crown Hill.

Crown Hill Cemetery is more than a place to honor the dead; it is a place full of life. Crown Hill not only offers sanctuary to wildlife, but it also is a safe space for pedestrians, runners, bicyclists, bird watchers, and other people in the community. The goal of our project is to draw attention to the unexpected ways this cemetery impacts the surrounding community (both human and natural) through a series of experimental audiovisual works culminating as a film.
